Brick Calculator

Engineer your masonry project with clinical precision using our professional Brick Mass Solver. Masonry is a game of volumetric accuracyordering too few materials leads to expensive shipping delays and color-match discrepancies (dye lots), while over-ordering results in logistical waste. Our premium engine deconstructs your wall's surface area, accounts for mortar joint displacement, and applies industrial wastage buffers to provide a definitive procurement list.

Brick Calculator: Estimate Bricks for Any Construction Project

Calculating the right number of bricks before starting construction prevents costly work stoppages and material waste. Whether you are building a wall, garden border, or entire home, our Brick Calculator gives you an accurate brick count based on wall dimensions and brick size, including mortar joint allowance and standard wastage.

Standard Brick Sizes in India

Modular brick (IS standard): 190mm × 90mm × 90mm. With 10mm mortar joints: 200mm × 100mm × 100mm. Non-modular/traditional: 230mm × 110mm × 75mm with 10mm joints = 240mm × 120mm × 85mm. The number of bricks per square meter of wall varies by brick size and orientation (stretcher, header, or English bond).

Bricks Per Square Meter

For a standard 190×90×90mm brick in stretcher bond (most common): Bricks per m² = 1000mm ÷ (190+10)mm × 1000mm ÷ (90+10)mm = 5 × 10 = 50 bricks per m² of half-brick wall (90mm thick).

Brick Calculation Formula

Wall area (m²) = Length × Height (subtract window and door openings). Number of bricks = Wall area × Bricks per m² × Number of brick layers in wall thickness. Add 5-10% for wastage, cuts, and breakage.

Mortar Estimation

For standard brickwork, approximately 0.025 m³ of mortar is needed per m² of half-brick wall. For 1:6 cement:sand mortar mix, 1 bag of cement (50 kg) covers approximately 6 m² of half-brick wall.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter wall length, height, and thickness (in number of bricks).
  2. Select brick type (modular or non-modular).
  3. Subtract door and window areas.
  4. Click Calculate for total bricks needed, mortar volume, and cement bags.

Conclusion

Accurate brick estimation prevents delays and ensures consistent batch-buying for color and quality uniformity. Use our Brick Calculator for any masonry project and always add the 10% wastage allowance — it is almost always needed.
