A 30-business-day timeline is very different from 30 calendar days. Our Business Days Calculator counts only working weekdays (MondayβFriday) between any two dates, optionally excluding Indian national holidays.
What Are Business Days?
Business days are weekdays β Monday through Friday β excluding weekends (Saturday and Sunday). In India, most government offices, banks, and courts observe a 5-day week, making Saturday and Sunday non-business days for official purposes. Some private sector businesses work 6 days, but for legal and financial calculation purposes, the 5-day week is standard.
Common Business Day Standards
Bank clearance: cheques typically clear in 2β3 business days within the same city, 3β5 days for outstation. NEFT/RTGS: same business day if initiated before cut-off. GST payment deadline: 20th of following month (calendar date, not business days). Notice period: most employment contracts specify calendar days, not business days β check yours. Legal process service: typically specified in business days per CPC.
