Income Tax Calculator 2025-26: Estimate Your Tax for FY 2025-26

The Union Budget 2025 brought significant changes to India's income tax structure, particularly for the new tax regime. The revised slabs and increased basic exemption limit mean many salaried individuals pay substantially less tax under the new regime. Our FY 2025-26 Income Tax Calculator reflects the latest slabs announced in Budget 2025.

New Tax Regime Slabs (FY 2025-26, Default)

Up to ₹4,00,000: Nil. ₹4,00,001 to ₹8,00,000: 5%. ₹8,00,001 to ₹12,00,000: 10%. ₹12,00,001 to ₹16,00,000: 15%. ₹16,00,001 to ₹20,00,000: 20%. ₹20,00,001 to ₹24,00,000: 25%. Above ₹24,00,000: 30%. Rebate under Section 87A: Full rebate for income up to ₹12,00,000 under the new regime — effectively zero tax for incomes up to ₹12 lakh. Standard deduction: ₹75,000 for salaried employees under new regime.

Old Tax Regime Slabs (FY 2025-26)

Up to ₹2,50,000: Nil. ₹2,50,001 to ₹5,00,000: 5%. ₹5,00,001 to ₹10,00,000: 20%. Above ₹10,00,000: 30%. Rebate under Section 87A: For income up to ₹5 lakh. Senior citizens (60-80): Basic exemption ₹3 lakh. Super seniors (80+): ₹5 lakh.

Key Deductions (Old Regime Only)

Section 80C: ₹1,50,000 (EPF, PPF, ELSS, life insurance, home loan principal, etc.). Section 80D: ₹25,000 (health insurance, ₹50,000 for senior citizens). Section 24(b): Home loan interest up to ₹2,00,000. Standard deduction: ₹50,000 for salaried. HRA exemption: as applicable.

Surcharge and Cess

Surcharge applies for income above ₹50 lakh: 10% surcharge above ₹50 lakh, 15% above ₹1 crore, 25% above ₹2 crore (new regime cap). Health and Education Cess: 4% on (tax + surcharge). This is applied on top of base tax for all taxpayers.

How to Use This Calculator

  1. Enter your gross annual income from all sources.
  2. Select old or new tax regime.
  3. For old regime: enter applicable deductions.
  4. Select age category.
  5. Click Calculate for taxable income, tax by slab, surcharge, cess, and net tax payable.

Conclusion

The new tax regime with its higher exemption limit and zero tax up to ₹12 lakh makes it the default and often better choice for FY 2025-26, especially for those with limited deductions. Use this calculator to compare both regimes and choose the one that minimizes your legal tax liability.
